Pay for Performance:
Health Care’s Panacea?
Friday, January 25, 2008
Sheraton Framingham Hotel
1657 Worcester Road
Framingham, MA
8:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Pay for Performance (P4P) has been widely hailed as a way to increase health care quality while effectively addressing the nation’s soaring health care costs. Pockets of P4P programs have emerged around the country and CMS and other payors are implementing quality standards into their reimbursement plans. As hospital pay for performance continues to expand, universal reporting standards will need to be addressed, and hospitals and providers will be required to share in more of the risks inherent in the new payment systems.
This year’s Mid-Winter Leadership Forum will look at many aspects of how Pay for Performance is evolving both around the country and here in Massachusetts. You’ll hear about the exciting innovations and lessons learned from Premier’s 260-hospital P4P quality demonstration
project. Dr. Tom Valuck of CMS will provide more information about their plans for value-based purchasing implementation and how it will impact hospitals.
Meredith Rosenthal, Ph.D. of Harvard’s School of Public Health will talk about what’s next on the horizon regarding health care financing trends. We’ll also have a distinguished panel of local hospitals and quality experts sharing their experiences here in Massachusetts regarding payment tied to quality measures.
We hope you’ll join us as we tackle issues of vital importance to hospitals and health care.
